Após vender Maycon ao Shakhtar Donetsk (UCR), o Corinthians foi ao mercado e contratou Douglas, que estava no Fluminense. Mas engana-se quem pensa que o novo reforço tem as mesmas características que o ex-titular do Timão.
Em entrevista ao LANCE!, o técnico Osmar Loss elogiou Douglas e analisou as características do novo reforço do Corinthians. O volante tem 21 anos, só atuou pelo Fluminense e teve passagem pela Seleção Brasileira Sub-20.
– É um jogador que tem uma característica interessante, é um jovem, está dentro do padrão das contratações que o Corinthians normalmente faz nas gestões do Andrés (Sanchez, presidente). É um jogador interessante, que vai agregar bastante – disse Loss, antes de comparar Douglas com Maycon:
– Tem características diferentes. O Douglas é um jogador de qualidade técnica, tem bons passes, faz boa construção. Tem chegada à área, talvez não tão intensa como o Maycon, mas tem. É um jogador de bom combate, tem arremate de meia distância, tem bastantes virtudes – analisou o treinador do Corinthians.
Loss ainda classificou Douglas como “mais segundo volante”. Ou seja, o reforço disputará posição de titular com Renê Júnior, certo?
– Quem sabe a gente não jogue com dois segundos volantes para qualificar mais o jogo? Tudo é possível – afirmou Loss.
Além de Douglas e Renê Júnior, o Corinthians tem mais quatro volantes no elenco: Gabriel (titular), Ralf (recuperando-se de lesão na panturrilha esquerda), Paulo Roberto e Thiaguinho.

“No início da temporada, Douglas teve uma séria lesão e uma forte amigdalite, o que fez com que Richard e Jadson ganhassem a vaga no time titular. O então técnico Abel Braga sempre mostrou confiança e fez elogios ao jogador. Inclusive, nas duas últimas partidas antes da paralisação do Campeonato Brasileiro, ele foi titular e capitão da equipe.
Durante a parada da Copa do Mundo, Marcelo Oliveira apontou uma mudança de esquema – saindo do 3-5-2 com o qual o time tricolor vinha atuando desde o início da temporada – e deu indícios de que contaria com o jogador entre os titulares. O camisa 8, em alguns testes, jogou um pouco mais adiantado, fazendo uma linha com Sornoza e Robinho.
Douglas, que passou por um drama na última temporada ao ser diagnosticado com uma artrite reativa, é um jogador que pode ser muito útil ao time e dar uma boa movimentação ao meio de campo da equipe corintiana.”

Com a eliminação do Brasil nas quartas de final da Copa do Mundo, o assunto renovação de talentos na Seleção entrou em voga. Um dos nomes mais comentados para o projeto Qatar-2022, Lucas Paquetá fortaleceu o coro por uma chance ao dizer que vive uma grande expectativa para ser lembrado por Tite – ou quem for que seja o próximo treinador.
Em entrevista coletiva realizada nesta segunda-feira, logo após o treino de reapresentação no Ninho do Urubu, Paquetá afirmou que sofreu com a eliminação para a Bélgica como “quem estava lá”, além de defender de maneira enfática Neymar.
– Todos nós torcemos muito. Sofremos com a derrota como todos que estavam lá. A Copa é algo que para o nosso país. Perdemos para uma grande equipe. Posso dizer que sonho em estar na próxima Copa, preciso continuar meu trabalho para ser lembrado. Não vai ser esse período (até setembro, para a primeira convocação pós-Mundial, em amistoso com os EUA) que vai fazer eu ser convocado, mas, sim, o que já fiz antes. Espero ser lembrado – contou, pouco antes de ser questionado a respeito de críticas e memes envolvendo Neymar:
– Eu queria entender quem é crítico do Neymar, que faz tudo pelo nosso país, que jogou vindo de lesão, busca dar tudo de si. É um gênio, não o critico em nada. Leva muita pancada, acontece, é uma forma dele se proteger (quanto às quedas). As brincadeiras em cima dele e a cobrança são muito exageradas, sem dúvida – opinou Lucas.

Lucas Paquetá é um dos destaques do Flamengo na temporada. O camisa 11, confirmado para encarar o São Paulo, na próxima quarta-feira, no retorno do Campeonato Brasileiro, não deixou de responder sobre os amigos Vinícius Júnior e Felipe Vizeu, ambos de saída rumo à Europa.
-Vinícius e Vizeu são grandes amigos, sinto saudades, das risadas deles também. Ainda temos contato por telefone. Bate uma saudade, mas sempre estaremos juntos.

O Goiás conseguiu reduzir a pena que sofreu no STJD por causa da confusão de parte da torcida no Serra Dourada no clássico disputado contra o Vila Nova, na quarta rodada da Série B. O time esmeraldino havia perdido dois mandos de campo e teria de jogar com portões fechados. A punição foi cumprida contra o Boa Esporte, mas a partir daí o departamento jurídico conseguiu efeito suspensivo.
O recurso foi julgado nesta quinta-feira, e a pena foi reduzida de duas para uma partida com portões fechados. Como já cumpriu a punição diante do Boa Esporte, o Goiás poderá continuar recebendo seus torcedores no restante do Campeonato Brasileiro. A multa também foi reduzida de R$ 50 mil para R$ 25 mil.
O Goiás volta a campo na próxima quinta-feira, em Goiânia, contra o Juventude. Depois de duas vitórias seguidas, a primeira sequência positiva na Série B, o time esmeraldino saiu da zona de rebaixamento.

Pubudu Dassanayake, the former Sri Lanka wicketkeeper-batsman has succeeded another former Sri Lanka cricketer, Roy Dias, as head coach of the Nepal cricket team. Dassanayake, who has Level III coaching qualifications from Australia, began work with Nepal from October 1.”It was during the World Cup that the Cricket Association of Nepal and I exchanged a few mails,” Dassanayake said. “I had expressed my interest to take on the role of head coach.”I heard a lot good things about Nepali cricket through Rumesh Ratnayake, who is a development manager with the Asian Cricket Council [ACC], and from other Sri Lankan colleagues of mine. They said Nepali cricket has the scope to reach another level. Nepal has talented young players and they finished second in the Under-19 World Cup qualifier in August.”Dassanayake represented Sri Lanka in 11 Tests and 16 ODIs between 1993 and 1994, before moving to Canada in 2001. He represented Canada in the 2005 World Cup qualifier in Ireland, and the following year captained them in the Intercontinental Cup. He took on the post as head coach of the Canadian national side in 2007 and helped them secure a place in the 2011 World Cup, before deciding not to renew his contract with them.Dassanayake’s first assignment with Nepal will be the ACC Twenty20 Cup, which will be hosted by Nepal in December.

Kochi Tuskers Kerala have appealed against the Bombay High Court’s decision to reject their case to restrain the BCCI from cashing its bank guarantee of 156 crore rupees. The franchise’s case was denied by a single bench of Justice SF Vajifdar on Wednesday and a new hearing before a division bench of the court has been set for Thursday morning, a Kochi official told ESPNcricinfo.”There is a hearing at 11 am tomorrow before a division bench,” Mukesh Patel, managing director, Parinee Developers Pvt Ltd, and one of the owners of the team, said. Kochi is also seeking a stay on the board’s decision to terminate the franchise and wants the court to refer the dispute to an arbitrator under the arbitration clause in their franchise agreement.Kochi is the third franchise to be expelled from the league over the last 12 months by the BCCI. Last year Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab, the two franchises that were terminated in October 2010, not only succeeded in having their cases referred to an arbitrator, but the court also returned them to the league and allowed them to compete in the IPL 2011.The BCCI had axed Kochi from the IPL for breaching its terms of agreement, the new board president N Srinivasan said, after the annual general meeting in Mumbai on September 19. The trigger for the decision was the franchise’s inability to furnish a new bank guarantee for 2011. It is understood that the deadline for Kochi to submit the bank guarantee was March 26, 2011. Therefore the BCCI felt it had every right to terminate the contract once the franchise had failed to produce it.Patel, however, denied that the franchise owed the board any money. “The BCCI notice is wrong, prima facie,” he said. “We have never defaulted. The BCCI will be paying us 12 to 15 crore rupees ($2.5 million to $3.13 million) next month as a part of our central revenue.”The franchise’s dispute centres on the BCCI’s decision to reduce the number of IPL games from 94 to 74. “The number of games in Tender Document was 94; they then reduced it to 74 but did not reduce the franchise fees.”Srinivasan, however, had said that the decision to remove Kochi from the league was final and termed their alleged transgression an “irremediable breach”.

وفي تصريحات لقناة الحياة قال عامر حسين: “بعد المباراة الأولى للأهلي في كأس العالم للأندية سنعلن عن التصور الجديد لمؤجلات الأهلي، لأن يوم 1 فبراير المقبل هو مفترق طرق، سننتظر نتيجة اللقاء وبعد ذلك نعلن المباريات المؤجلة”.
وواصل تصريحاته: “بطولة الدوري ستتنهي قبل إرسال أسماء الأندية المشاركة في بطولات إفريقيا، الاتحاد الإفريقي هو من سيختار الأندية المشاركة في دوري السوبر”.
وعن إمكانية مشاركة الأهلي في دوري السوبر الإفريقي ودوري الأبطال الإفريقي معا قال: “حال مشاركة الأهلي في بطولة دوري السوبر الإفريقي، لن يستطيع المشاركة في دوري أبطال إفريقيا، لن يكون لديه وقت نهائيًا، المتوقع الانتهاء من بطولة الدوري يوم 10 أو 15 يوليو المقبل”.
وردا على أسباب استقالة كلاتنبرج قال: “عقدنا اجتماعًا والتزمنا أن الملف يتحول للإدارة المالية والقانونية ولو الأمر انتهى بشكل ودي لا يوجد مشكلة، وأي أحد له حق سيحصل عليه بناء على العقد المبرم بين كلاتنبرج والاتحاد، الأمور أصبحت صعبة في التواصل”.
وأكمل عامر حسين: “هل سيكون هناك ترشحيات لرئيس لجنة حكام مصري أم أجنبي؟ هناك قرار أننا سنستكمل التجربة بالأجنبي حتى النهاية وسنقيمها بعد نهاية الموسم، منذ سنوات طويلة يكون هناك هجوم على رئيس لجنة الحكام المصري ولا يستمر لفترة طويلة”.
وقال عن واقعة كهربا: “تم إحالة واقعة كهربا في مباراة القمة إلى لجنة الانضباط لعدم رصدها في تقرير مراقب اللقاء، هذه اللجنة مستقلة ولها الحرية فى اتخاذ القرارات المناسبة وفقا للوائحها واتحاد الكرة لا يتدخل فى عملها”.
واختتم حديثه: “الموعد المقترح لنهائي كأس مصر بين الأهلي وبيراميدز؟ سنعلن مع التصور الجديد يوم 1 فبراير المقبل”.

The tournament, which was a 40-over event for the last two seasons, will now be a 50-over competition in a bid to prepare for the 2015 World Cup. The decision was taken at Cricket South Africa’s annual general meeting in Port Elizabeth on Saturday on the advice of the cricket committee.”The conditions will be identical to those for ODIs to prepare our players better for international competition,” Gerald Majola, CSA chief executive said. “That should help us to win that elusive ICC limited overs trophy.”In April, after South Africa crashed out of the World Cup at the quarter-final stage, convenor of selectors, Andrew Hudson indicated to ESPNcricinfo that the domestic structure would be changed in order to better prepare the national team for major tournaments. Two months later, CSA announced that the competition would revert back to a 45-over game, as it had been from the 1995-6 season until 2009-10. Now, CSA have decided to replicate the ODI format exactly, in an attempt to win a first World Cup trophy.South Africa’s limited-overs competition had undergone many changes in the past two decades, often with the view to copy innovations in the international game. In the 2005-06 season, when the ICC was experimenting with the use of a “super-sub” and Powerplays, South Africa followed suit. With thoughts of 50-over cricket becoming a thing of the past, the competition was reduced to 40 overs and three Powerplays were added. With the anticipated change in ODIs coming to nothing, CSA are going back to the traditional limited-overs form of the game.The new competition is without a sponsor after mobile telephone operator MTN, who backed the tournament from the 2006-07 season, pulled out of cricket. A sponsor is expected to be announced in the next month.

Duncan Fletcher left the England coaching job after the 2007 World Cup, which began a turbulent time for the team, and now returns to try and plot their downfall and sustain India’s grip on the No. 1 ranking in Tests.The manner in which Fletcher departed the England role – following a 0-5 Ashes whitewash and a dire World Cup – left behind poor memories of a successful period in which the team regained the Ashes in 2005 and became a major Test, although not one-day, force. The Fletcher that returns in 2011 doesn’t appear to have changed much; he still wears the dark glasses, still doesn’t smile much and still doesn’t give much away.But his challenge is quite different. With England, his job involved coaching a team building towards an ultimate aim and, despite the 2005 Ashes success, they never quite fulfilled what their talent promised. Now, he is in charge of the World Cup holders and the top-ranked Test side. It is possible to suggest the only way from here is down, and failure is not tolerated easily in Indian cricket.However, Fletcher’s coaching juices have started flowing again, after a period when he believed his time in a full-time top job was finished. “To be honest I think I did [hang up the coaching boots],” he said. “It’s strange being back in this role. When I left England I didn’t think I’d be back, involved in this way. But after doing some consultancy for South Africa, New Zealand and Hampshire I got the bug again.”Then this opportunity came up, and it was one I couldn’t turn down. It does seem a bit strange to be back here, but I’ve enjoyed working with India. Fletcher will clearly be well paid for his job (although it probably matches the expectations that come with it) but he still retains that hunger to help players, especially batsmen, make the most of potential that other coaches may find tougher to spot. Marcus Trescothick and Michael Vaughan were the best examples from his England days, but so too is the current captain Andrew Strauss.”I’ve got huge regard for Duncan as a man and a coach,” Strauss said. “He was integral in me changing from a promising county player to a full-fledged Test player. It’s great to see him coach India. I’m sure he’s delighted with that opportunity.”The situation is slightly different for Fletcher this time around, since India’s batting line-up includes some of the finest players to grace the game. In many ways it could be an intimidating position for him to be in, as there will be a complete generational shift within the India team when Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman eventually move on. They may outlast Fletcher, but if they don’t, his coaching legacy will be what he can do to replace them.However, Fletcher still believes the great players can be helped and wants to split his time between working with the senior figures while also nurturing members of the next generation such as Suresh Raina. “It happened in the West Indies where I did a bit of work with Rahul. Every batsman needs help at times – look at the top golfers who lose their game and someone has to be there to help identify the reason. I also work with the young players to pass on knowledge and make sure they get experience as quickly as possible.”I find it exciting just working with MS [Dhoni] and VVS Laxman who are two legends of the game,” he added. “Even talking to Harbhajan Singh over his bowling has been fantastic. When these individuals come in it just helps and inspires you. They can probably teach me more than I can teach them, it is a pleasant and enjoyable journey I hope.”Fletcher is building new friendships with the India team but one of the fascinating sub-plots to this series is his relationship with some current England players. Many began their international careers under Fletcher and his bond with Kevin Pietersen remains especially strong. He keeps in contact with a number of players but chats may be more limited over the next couple of months.”I have talked to them on the phone since taking the job on odd occasions – not always about cricket,” he said. “I’ll play it by ear and see how it goes. They are good friends.”Friendship also means knowledge of what they are like as players. Despite the pedigree of the players at India’s disposal, Fletcher’s inside tips could yet prove a vital factor although both sides are saying a lot has changed in four years.”I’ve always said the planning aspect to the Test series is important but not nearly as important as players going out and doing it under pressure,” Strauss said. “I don’t think he’s going to tell them anything they particularly don’t know about us. The key with all these plans is to administer them in the middle.”Fletcher, though, is too canny not to have a few ideas up his sleeve. “The team has changed quite a bit,” he said. “We’ll have to look at the tapes we’ve got over the next few days. It’s difficult to assess how teams are better and who is the best. If you look at statistics it says India are, but England have definitely improved under Straussy and Andy Flower. They’ve got the side back on track and have played some really good cricket. We are going to need to play very good cricket as well.”And if India play well enough to repeat their series victory from 2007 Fletcher might even manage a smile.
