Gautam Gambhir has rubbished claims he covered up a shoulder injury to play in the IPL, saying he did play with discomfort in his right shoulder but was never aware of the extent of the problem. Gambhir said he had felt the discomfort during the World Cup final but as it wasn’t too painful he didn’t think it was a major injury, and hence played the IPL, in which he captained Kolkata Knight Riders. Gambhir could now miss India’s tour of the West Indies, where he was to captain the side during the limited-overs leg, but insists he never put his franchise before playing for India and would not have risked worsening his injury had he known its nature.”Any modern cricketer knows that by feigning or risking injury he is only jeopardising his own career,” Gambhir told the . “It is imaginative to say I was covering my injury to play in the IPL. I played with discomfort without realising the gravity of my injury. As a leader, my team needed me, but to say I preferred club over country is ridiculous.”On Wednesday, Kolkata’s team trainer Andrew Leipus wrote a letter to the BCCI saying Gambhir had complained of a sore shoulder when he arrived in Kolkata for the IPL and subsequent scans had shown a serious injury that would require four to six weeks to heal. The letter said Gambhir recalled landing on his arm during the World Cup final and feeling acute pain. Gambhir said he did not think it was a major injury at the time.”I felt some discomfort during the World Cup final, while running between the wickets. It didn’t seem major as it wasn’t very painful at the time. Any professional cricketer, playing all three formats, will tell you that niggles are all part of the system.”Gambhir admitted he might have aggravated the injury during Kolkata’s group-stage match against Mumbai on May 22 in Kolkata but he still didn’t think it would be a problem. Asked why he played Kolkata’s next game, a knockout match in Mumbai on Wednesday, despite Leipus having already written to the BCCI, he said he had not spoken to Leipus about the injury before the game.”There was an instance during Sunday’s clash against Mumbai Indians when I threw the ball from deep point and felt pain in my right shoulder. I thought it would be fine with a bit of icing or at most I thought I’d get a scan in Mumbai.”I had an MRI in Mumbai and Leipus got the report. We didn’t discuss it as I was preparing for Sunday’s game, which was a knockout. It will be misleading to blame the BCCI, Andrew or the Kolkata management for this. I don’t think anybody intended to cover up things here.”Gambhir defended his commitment to the national team saying that he had actually played through injuries when his country had needed it.”I know how hard I have worked for my national cap and what it means to me. Not many people know that in 2008 I played the Ranji Trophy final against Uttar Pradesh with a swollen left hand. Earlier this year, I played the last Test of the South Africa series with an injured left hand. The swelling was so bad I could barely wear a glove. I am proud of the 93 and 64 I got on one of the most difficult pitches. It is embarrassing to publicise my commitment but I have no choice.”He also said missing out on leading India in the West Indies would be a huge setback. “I am so keen to lead the side that even during the breaks between IPL matches I’d discuss with Yusuf Pathan our strategy for conditions in the West Indies. وتمكن الأهلي من الفوز على إنبي، بهدفين دون رد، في المباراة التي جمعت الفريقين، اليوم الخميس على أرضية ملعب استاد المقاولون العرب، في الجولة الثانية عشر من عمر المسابقة المحلية.

وعلم “بطولات” أن النادي الأهلي قرر نقل أحمد نبيل كوكا فورًا إلى أحد المستشفيات القريبة من ستاد المقاولون العرب، بعد بكاء اللاعب بشدة في ممر اللاعبين بعد انتهاء المباراة.

ويحتل الأهلي صدارة ترتيب الدوري المصري، برصيد 30 نقطة، جمعها من الفوز في 9 مباريات والتعادل بـ3 مواجهات دون الوقوع في أي هزائم.

وبدأ الفريق المران بفقرة إحماء أعقبها تنفيذ اللاعبين التدريبات الفنية والجمل الخططية التي يرغب الجهاز الفني في تطبيقها خلال مباراة الغد، فيما خاض حراس المرمى تدريباتهم تحت إشراف ميشيل يانكون مدرب الحراس قبل المشاركة في تدريبات الكرة.

Gerry Alexander, the former West Indies captain, has died at the age of 82 in Jamaica.Alexander was a wicketkeeper-batsman who represented West Indies in 25 Tests in a five-year career that began in 1957. He led the side in 18 of those matches, beginning with a home series against Pakistan in 1958 and stepping down after England’s visit in 1960.”He [Alexander] was a stalwart in Jamaica and West Indies cricket and made a tremendous contribution to the game as captain and a player on the field. He was an inspiration to many people off the field as well,” Julian Hunte, the WICB president, said. “He displayed a true love and passion for West Indies cricket and gave his all for the good of the game. He was a dignified and reliable leader of the West Indies team and a committed supporter of the game at all levels. He excelled in the 1960-61 Tied Test Series in Australia and will always be remembered for the fantastic role he played to help ‘save Test cricket’.”At a time when the West Indies and the world beyond it were undergoing great social change, Alexander was the last white captain of the team. He was replaced first temporarily and then permanently by Frank Worrell in time for the legendary 1960-61 series in Australia, which featured Test cricket’s first tie at Brisbane.Prior to that he courted controversy by choosing to send home the fast bowler Roy Gilchrist from the West Indies’ 1958-59 tour of India and Pakistan for reasons of indiscipline, including the bowling of repeated beamers. Gilchrist did not play for the West Indies again.In his final series as captain, before being succeeded by Worrell, Alexander equalled the record for most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in a series with 23 victims against England. He followed that up by supporting Worrell grandly with 484 runs at 60.50 in the 1960-61 series, scoring at least one half-century in each of the matches and his only first-class century in the third Test at the SCG, won by the West Indies. Alexander finished his Test career at the conclusion of the series with 961 runs at 30.03, and 90 dismissals.Away from cricket, Alexander studied and worked as a veterinarian, rising to the position of chief public sector veterinarian in his homeland.In 1982, he received the Order of Distinction from the Government of Jamaica for his outstanding contribution to sports. He was also a skilled footballer, winning an England amateur cap and an FA Amateur Cup winner’s medal.

وقال منصور خلال الاجتماع مع لاعبي الزمالك وفيريرا في مقطع فيديو مذاع عبر قناة الزمالك: “هناك جزء من المستحقات دخلت في حساباتكم، وخلال يومين أو ثلاثة ستحصلون على باقي المستحقات”.

وكان زيزو حصل علي جائزة أفضل لاعب في مباراة الزمالك وحرس الحدود التي أقيمت في منافسات الجولة الثامنة من عمر الدوري المصري الممتاز، حسمها الأبيض لصالحة برباعية نظيفة.

A chegada do Roger dá opção a mais, até para rodar, segurar o Rodriguinho ou o Jadson em algum jogo – analisou Carille.

– É muito importante essa opção, até a montagem passa por um jogador dessa característica. Se não tem um centroavante, a minha bola aérea fica muito ruim. Até por isso a escolha pelo Ralf em vez do Gabriel em alguns jogos. Todo técnico vai querer sempre muito mais, e eu também sempre vou querer. Mas entre querer mais e ficar lamentando, eu deixo de lamentar, vou com esse grupo que acredito bastante – acrescentou o treinador.

Aos 33 anos, Roger assinou contrato com o Corinthians até o fim de 2019. Como estava trabalhando normalmente no Inter, o atacante está bem fisicamente para ficar à disposição para o jogo de domingo.
