In search of inspiration Kent took the second new ball and that reaped immediate dividends when to the very next delivery, Dawson nudged an away-swinger to first slip against Kent’s golden arm seamer Darren Stevens.Sean Ervine feathered the next ball to slip where Tredwell initially juggled the chance only to catch it at the second attempt and send Ervine packing for a golden duck. As the storm clouds gathered, Stevens took his tally to three for 37 by having Michael Bates caught behind off an expansive drive by wicketkeeper Geraint Jones.With a 300-plus lead comfortably within their grasp Hampshire would now appear firm favourites to secure a last-day victory which would likely condemn Kent to life in division two.

Em parceria com um canal de TV, o Facebook já transmite cerca de 22 jogos da MLS, principal liga de futebol dos Estados Unidos, e, supostamente, esteve interessado nos direitos de transmissão do campeonato inglês. O trio Facebook, Google e Netflix prometia entrar na briga pela transmissão do futebol da Inglaterra ainda em 2018, tentando superar o contrato de mais de 5 bilhões de libras (cerca de 22 bilhões de reais) de TVs a cabo do país. Já é claro que uma nova era está por vir.

Não só os gigantes das redes sociais e as plataformas de vídeos online estão percebendo o valor da transmissão esportiva pela internet, mas também as ligas oficiais, as federações e até os próprios times. Eles estão procurando novas plataformas de distribuição de seus conteúdos para atingir o maior número de pessoas, criando experiências incríveis para os torcedores, independente das emissoras de TV. E é por isso que te digo com muita convicção: em muito breve, você não estará mais sentado na frente da televisão assistindo ao seu jogo favorito.

أكد رودري أن منتخب بلاده إسبانيا سيحاول الفوز بكأس العالم 2022 في قطر، وتحدث عن المفضلين للقب.

ويستعد منتخب إسبانيا لمواجهة الأردن غدًا الخميس في مباراة ودية للتحضير لكأس العالم، وتحدث رودري خلال مؤتمر صحفي خاص بالمباراة.

وقال لاعب مانشستر سيتي: “لقد جئنا للتحضير لكأس العالم، وسنحاول الفوز به، ونفعل ذلك بهذه المباراة، وهي طريقة جيدة للتحضير لمواجهة كوستاريكا”. 

وأضاف: “كأس العالم مختلفة لأننا نتنافس مع أشخاص لم نعتد عليهم، سيكون هناك صدام بين الأساليب وعلينا التركيز على تطوير كرة القدم لدينا، ويمكن أن تكون جميع الفرق خطيرة بأسلحتها”.

واستطرد رودري: “لا يوجد منافس بارز، نحن نركز على أنفسنا، نفضل عدم الذهاب كمرشحين لأننا لسنا كذلك، لم ننجح في الفوز في السنوات الأخيرة”.

وعن المنافسة بينه وبين بوسكيتس، أكد رودري: “إنه قرار المدير الفني، إذا سألتني عن رأيي فنحن لاعبان عظيمان ويمكننا اللعب معًا واللاعبون الأذكياء يفهمون بعضهم البعض في الملعب، ويمكننا الفوز في العديد من الجوانب”.

An injury expert has now dropped a ‘hopeful’ Wolves claim involving Ruben Neves.

Speaking to the media, Bruno Lage revealed that Neves’ injury setback was ‘not as serious’ as they initially expected.

Speaking to Football Insider, Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in both medicine and data analysis, has claimed that he is still ‘hopeful’ that Neves will return in ‘early to mid-May’, despite this ‘new info’ from Lage:

“My understanding initially hasn’t changed a great deal even with this new info.

“We’re talking about an MCL here. The indication that it was a grade two.

“I was working on the premise that we could maybe see a return around early to mid-May. I am still fairly hopeful that is the case.

“It happened against Leeds. He tried to continue but he couldn’t. He then went out to Portugal for some rehab and recovery.

“The target was always going to be around game week 35. I think there is a strong possibility that he’ll play again this season somewhere around there.”

The Verdict: Big boost

The fact that Neves’ injury is not as serious as previously expected, and that he could return for the last few matches of the campaign, is certainly a big boost for the Midlands club.

He currently ranks as their fourth-best performer in the Premier League so far, scoring four goals and making two assists, while also picking up two man-of-the-match awards (WhoScored).

The 25-year-old also ranks highly among his teammates in terms of average tackles, interceptions, shots, passes, long and through balls per game (WhoScored), and will clearly be an important player for them if they are to finish the season strongly, and potentially challenge for a European place.

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri, is renowned for his reckless spending, but he could save millions if Frank Lampard can work his magic with his youth development like he did at Chelsea.

The ex-Chelsea boss was successful in his nurturing of youth at Stamford Bridge, with Mason Mount and Reece James becoming starting players for the side, winning a Champions League less than 12 months after Lampard gave them their Premier League debuts.

And now, Moshiri should be capitalising on this proven attribute by looking at which youth players the new manager can bring through to become his next breakthrough player.

Anthony Gordon is a perfect example of how youth can be seamlessly integrated into the first team, without needing to dip into the transfer market and spending millions unnecessarily – something of which the Everton owner must surely stop doing so excessively after spending over £600m and failing to put the side in a stronger position.

With that being said, one player that Lampard could unleash in the side is 19-year-old Lewis Dobbin, who was hailed “fantastic” by Everton U23’s head coach David Unsworth.

Dobbin has only had three fleeting appearances in the Premier League this season, when he was drafted into the first team by Rafa Benitez over the first half of the season, most recently playing 28 minutes against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge when the injury ridden side pulled off an unexpected 1-1 draw, with fellow youngster Jarrad Branthwaite scoring the equaliser.

The young forward has scored three goals and bagged one assist in the Premier League 2, and has been training with the first team much more regularly since Benitez introduced him into the side at the beginning of the season, so it seems like it is only a matter of time before we see him getting more action in Lampard’s side.

Dobbin offers a diverse range of attacking qualities, using his pace and intelligence to command the ball and make important goal scoring opportunities for his team.

The youngster has been mostly prolific in a left winger role scoring two goals from that position but has featured mostly as a centre forward, and with all these attributes combined he could really become Richarlison 2.0 for the Toffees, emulating that second striker off the left side position that the Brazilian star has starred in.

Amid fears that he may leave the club at the end of the season to follow the likes of fellow young talent Mohamed-Ali Cho and Thierry Small, the teenage attacker recently secured a long term contract with the club following talks with chairman, Bill Kenwright, who was keen to offer a future for Dobbin with Everton.

Lampard now has the opportunity to give the star his chance to shine and offer him the opportunity to work with like-minded Richarlison in developing his game so that he can ultimately follow in the footsteps of Anthony Gordon by breaking into the first team and making an impact on the side.

Dubbed an “exciting talent” by The Athletic’s Patrick Boyland, the rarely-seen Dobbin could save the club millions.

É óbvio que Júlio César não é mais, e nem poderia ser, o grande goleiro de outros tempos. Mas, no Flamengo, terá o local ideal para encerrar a carreira com a grandeza que merece. Afinal, no Benfica, ele já vinha há algum tempo com poucas chances de titularidade.

Sua primeira temporada em território português chegou a ser promissora. A tal ponto que, quando sofreu uma grave lesão em março de 2016, torcedores ficaram assustados. Entretanto, Ederson assumiu a meta do Benfica com muita propriedade, evidenciando que Júlio César não era mais indispensável, em especial por seus problemas lombares crônicos.

Embora não tenha voltado a ser titular do Benfica mesmo com a saída de Ederson, Júlio César seguiu no clube. Muito pelo grande profissional que é, pela motivação que trouxe para os mais novos e por seu exemplo como pessoa. Mas já vinha preterido. Agora, neste final de carreira do Flamengo, a tendência é que venham novas oportunidades.

India beat Australia by 171 runs in one of most thrilling Test matches of all times and levelled the three-match series with one game to play. At the end of the second day, India were down and out, able to make just 171 in their first innings. In a knock of 281, described by Steve Waugh as “some of the best batting I have ever seen”, VVS Laxman galvanised the Indians.It has been long since an Indian has taken the attack to the opposition in such strident fashion. Laxman stood up and delivered the goods when it was most needed – the hallmark of a true champion surely. But wait, let us not forget Rahul Dravid, who shared a 376-run partnership with Laxman on the way to making a belligerent 180. Let us not also discount Steve Waugh’s magnificent hundred – his first on Indian soil. And then there is Harbhajan Singh, who with match figures of 13/196, including a hat-trick, would have been the man of the match on almost any other day. Then again, this historic win, after being asked to follow on, would never have been possible if not for Laxman.Looking for that elusive triple hundred Laxman perished early in themorning, slashing hard at a short and wide ball from Glenn McGrath to be caught by Ricky Ponting in the gully region. Laxman’s 281 came in over 10 and a half hours. When the Hyderabadi was dismissed, the roar that went up showed how much his innings meant to the crowd at the Eden Gardens. If this were the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad, his home town, the cheers wouldn’t have been louder or the ovation more heartfelt. Unfortunately for Laxman, he did not add to his tally of 44 boundaries. When the fifth wicket partnership finally broke, the Dravid-Laxman pair had added a mammoth 376.Dravid then moved on to 180 (444 mins, 353 balls, 21 fours) before being run out in a bid to push the scoring rate. By then, however, Dravid’s dismissal was inconsequential with India leading by a huge margin. Dravid’s innings too was an important one, coming at a time when the middle order bat had lost his number three slot. Signalling the end of a lean patch, Dravid came to India’s rescue. Zaheer Khan (23 not out) used the long handle to good effect and India declared their innings closed on 657/7, equalling the second highest ever second innings total in Test cricket. The highest, 671/4 declared, made by the Kiwis at home against the touring Lankans was a bit too far away to go for. The other time the same score was made, was by Pakistan against the West Indies at Bridgetown in 1957-58, albeit for the loss of one more wicket.Set a tough target of 384 off 75 overs, the Australians went about their task most methodically. Matthew Hayden and Michael Slater combined well to blunt the early efforts of the Indians. However, as is often the case on a fifth day wicket, it wasn’t to last forever. Slater (43) was undone by a Harbhajan Singh off break – he was the first, but certainly not the last to perish in that manner.Mark Waugh, whose dream was a double hundred on Indian soil, disappointed once more. The elegant middle order batsman was trapped plumb in front by an arm ball from left arm spinner Venkatapathi Raju before he could get off the mark. With Justin Langer having left earlier, the Australians were 116/3 and the Indians began to sense a window of opportunity.The safest batsman in the world in these kinds of situation, Steve Waugh, joined Hayden out in the middle. Stroking the ball well around the park, the pair added 50 for the fourth wicket. Then the procession began. Let off by Ganguly just before the tea interval, Steve Waugh repeated his mistake, turning the ball around the corner. The second time around however, the man at backward short leg was the agile Hemang Badani. Moving to his natural side, the left, Badani snapped up a smart catch, sending the Australian captain on his way. Steve Waugh’s 24 helped boost Australian hopes, but did not do enough for the team total.As expected, the fall of the captain’s wicket boosted the Indian morale no end. For its part, the crowd too began to get squarely behind the Indian team. With the score on 166, Ricky Ponting followed his captain back to the pavilion. Attempting an awkward sweep shot, Ponting presented Das with a simple catch at forward short leg. From 166/3 Australia slumped to 174/8, losing five wickets in a 32-ball period that yielded just eight runs.Adam Gilchrist, having won all 15 Test matches he has played, was brought down to earth in his sixteenth. Trapped leg before wicket by Tendulkar off the very first ball he faced, the Aussie stumper bagged a ‘King’s pair’. Matthew Hayden (67 runs, 199 mins, 119 balls, 6 fours) played all over a Tendulkar full toss and was adjudged lbw. Tendulkar was not done yet. Bowling a perfectly pitched googly the Indian batting maestro had Shane Warne trapped plumb in front.In deep trouble, with an almost full-strength crowd lusting for an Indian victory, the Australian fast bowlers attempted to resist the Indian spinners. For a time they did. Not nearly long enough though. When Glenn McGrath shouldered arms to Harbhajan Singh and umpire SK Bansal’s finger went up for the fifth time in the day, it was all over. Scuttling Australia for 212, India had won by 171 runs. For the third time in the history of the game a team had won after being asked to follow on. Surprisingly enough, Australia has been at the losing end of all those matches. The first instance was way back in 1894-95 when Australia unsuccessfully enforced the follow on against the touring England side at Sydney. The second time was in Headingley in 1981 with England being let off the hook. Today, India got its name on that elite list.There was a mad rush for souvenir stumps out in the middle. In the stands the bedlam was much more frenzied. Every placard, poster and piece of paper was on fire. The scenes today could have only been bettered in the bull-rings of old, where gladiators fought each other to death. There was no death here at the Eden Gardens. But those fortunate enough to be present witnessed several rebirths. Harbhajan Singh with 13/196 and a hat-trick has cemented his place in the side. Vangipurappu Venkat Sai Laxman with 281, the highest Test score by an Indian, has made the number three slot his own. Rahul Dravid with 180 has rediscovered form that gave him the nickname “The Wall”.Most importantly, Indian cricket has once more found the will to beat the best side in the world and stamp its authority on world cricket.

Speaking in his pre-game press conference ahead of the match, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has revealed that Ryan Jack has now been ruled out of the clash with an ankle problem, but claimed that he does not think that it is a serious injury.

However, given the sheer number of injury problems that he has suffered in the past at Ibrox, some members of the Teddy Bears faithful may now be fearing the worst for him.

The Latest: Ramsey not ready

Also in his conference, van Bronckhorst confirmed that Aaron Ramsey is not ready to start a game for the Light Blues yet following his arrival on loan from Juventus on Transfer Deadline Day:

“Ramsey is not quite ready to start yet.

“You can see his quality in training and in his early minutes.

“He is improving every day and it is great to see the improvements in only a week.”

The Verdict: Double blow

Of course, it is a double blow for the Gers that they will not be able to field either Jack or Ramsey in the middle of the park from the off.

Van Bronckhorst was particularly pleased with Jack’s performance in the derby after coming off of the bench, claiming that he was ‘the best man on the pitch in the second half’, and that that he ‘changed’ the game and ‘made a big difference’ (Rangers TV via Yahoo).
